HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT

• Set your thermostat back whenever you’re away from home or while you’re sleeping. Setting back the temperature is most beneficial when you do it for at least eight hours at a time.
• Refrain from making drastic changes in temperature one way or the other. Change the temperature by a degree or two if you’re too cold or warm. Otherwise, you’ll just be adjusting back to a more comfortable temperature once it rises or falls too far and you’ve wasted energy. Setting it for a lower or higher temperature won’t make it get there any faster.
• To hold the temperature indefinitely, use the “hold” feature. If you hit the temporary override function, it will be canceled as soon as the next pre-programmed cycle is set to begin. But the “hold” or “vacation” feature isn’t canceled by the next cycle.
• Don’t override pre-programmed settings too often as it forces your furnace or air conditioner to cycle on and off more than they should and wastes energy
